COSORI Smart Nutrition Scale: Two Minute Review
New for 2025 in the world of health and fitness technology is the enticing COSORI Smart Nutrition Scale. In fact, I first came across it on TikTok where I saw a few viral posts about it, and now COSORI has officially launched the Smart Kitchen Scale in the UK. Please see the Pricing and Availability section for detailed information.
As a fitness enthusiast with an interest in food and nutrition, but as someone who often finds it difficult to track food intake and count calories, the COSORI seemed like the perfect fit for me and after trying the scale for the first time , I have to say I’m really impressed. It’s not perfect and there are a few obvious flaws in the methodology which I’ll get into in more detail, but it’s a nifty little kitchen gadget that will catch guests’ attention and makes a great gift for under £50/50 $ for the gym enthusiast is your life.
Out of the box, the COSORI feels premium and well-made, which is what you would expect from a scale that costs almost $50. The plastic base houses three AAA batteries, while the platform is made of food-grade 304 stainless steel that is easy to clean. The size is quite generous, it’s much larger than my standard kitchen scale, making it feel more useful without being bulky.
The COSORI Smart Kitchen Scale is designed to provide you with accurate information about the foods you eat, showing the exact amount of calories, protein, fat, carbohydrates and micronutrients such as fiber based on weight. Of course, this requires a companion app that allows you to access the food database and scan barcodes (or search for food) on the go.
The scale is delivered ready for use and has a QR code for the VeSync app. Installation, registration and pairing took less than a minute in my opinion. The process of setting up the scale was extremely easy and straightforward with no problems. So far, so good.
The COSORI Smart Kitchen Scale is so easy to use that there are hardly any explanations about its functionality. The VeSync app, which syncs with Apple Health and Fitbit, includes a daily food tracking platform. You enter your target calories and desired breakdown of proteins, carbohydrates and fat, the three major “macronutrients” that are essential for a balanced diet, weight loss or muscle building.
Once your numbers are saved, log foods like you would in apps like MyFitnessPal. The most convenient way to do this is to scan barcodes. The process is super fast, but it has one glaring flaw. Food data comes from Nutritionix, which offers nearly a million foods. However, if your food is not listed, you will need to enter the details manually or select a replacement.
I did a quick search of my fridge and was surprised to see that eggs and Greek yoghurt from a UK household supermarket didn’t show up. However, eggs from another major supermarket went down well, as did some frozen berries from my freezer and a muscle-building staple: Pringles potato chips. Your mileage will certainly vary when it comes to which foods are supported and may even depend on where you live and shop.
Entering the information manually isn’t the end of the world, but it’s definitely frustrating when the barcode scanner doesn’t produce any results.
Once you have successfully identified your food, simply place it on the scale and COSORI will automatically weigh it and provide you with a breakdown of all the nutrients in the food. Once you’re happy with your amount, simply tap “Save and Add More” and you’re done. Congratulations, you have successfully recorded the exact weight and calorie breakdown of the foods you want to consume.
In principle, the COSORI Smart Kitchen Scale allows you to track an entire day’s eating habits, with calorie counting accuracy down to the gram.
So who would benefit? While you can easily weigh something with the COSORI, that’s a lot of money to spend on a scale that you only use for weighing. The COSORI really needs to be used to its full extent to justify the effort. I would say that gym goers, bodybuilders and anyone trying to build a nutritional routine that complements their fitness plan will absolutely love COSORI.
It is particularly suitable for people who like to try new foods, mix up recipes and experiment. On the other hand, if you’re making cooked chicken, rice, and broccoli every Sunday afternoon for seven days, you might be better off with a regular scale.
The COSORI is particularly helpful in giving you insight into calories and ingredients that have no obvious calorie composition, such as a spoonful of peanut butter. I still remember one TikToker being embarrassed to see, for example, how many calories were in a fairly measly serving of peanut butter. If you care about your diet, calories, and portions, the COSORI could take you from a portion enthusiast to a culinary rain man.
While you could theoretically use COSORI alongside something like MyFitnessPal to track your nutrition, you would miss out on the fast, automatic tracking and instant results that make COSORI an attractive package. Therefore, anyone who has already invested heavily in another food or fitness app may not want to switch. The COSORI app even offers recipes, including recipes you can use with the best air fryers (some of which also happen to be made by COSORI).

As I tested
I paired the COSORI Smart Kitchen Scale with my iPhone and tried out all the app’s functions. I used the scale to weigh a number of household foods to determine accuracy, as well as the barcode scanner to test the food library function.
